Time Crisis 4 trailer assures us they still suck at voice acting

Giorgio, Evan, and William. Those are your main characters for Time Crisis 4 and your mission is to battle terrorists -- wait, no, they're not terrorists. But they are! Insert cheesy voice-over and explosion. This trailer is bad. Not bad as in "this game sucks" but it's hilariously bad like Zero Wing. But, as they say at the end of the trailer, at least it won't be boring. These games are a lot of fun to play and have eaten our quarters for over ten years. We're excited to test it out in our homes!

Can you tell the difference between GT5 and real life?

The graphical line separating video games and real life has been getting thinner and thinner with each passing console generation, and the Gran Turismo series always seems to be the one leading the charge.

Harnessing the PlayStation 3's graphical power, Gran Turismo 5 features the most realistic graphics to date. So real, in fact, that many people can't tell the difference between an image from GT5 and its real-life counterpart. To prove this, a Neo GAF forum member created a quiz featuring screens from GT5 and GT5 Prologue that will have you staring inches away from your monitor trying to discern the difference.

Take the quiz, and see how you do!

New PS3 screensaver to utilize PlayStation Eye

While LocoRoco Cocoreccho wasn't necessarily the interactive screensaver we were all expecting (it was much more!), it looks like Tori-Emaki will fill its shoes nicely. Additionallly, the screensaver will put the PS3's upcoming PlayStation Eye to use by allowing gamers to control a flock of birds around ancient Asian settings with a wave of their hand.

Developed by PlayLogic, it's hard not to compare the "game's" art direction to Okami – arguably one of the very best PS2 titles of all time. There's no word yet on when it will be available, but we can only cleverly deduce it will be after the PS Eye's Oct. 23 release date.

Söldner-X trailer full of shmup goodness

Up to this point, all we've seen of Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer were screenshots, but thankfully, developer Side Quest Studios has released a great gameplay trailer of the upcoming PlayStation Network downloadable game. While it doesn't seem like Söldner-X will stray too far away from the tried and true shmup recipe for success, everything we've seen from the game just looks so darn good.

Watch this Uncharted shoot-out

Naughty Dog's upcoming Uncharted looks better every time we see. But not only graphically, the gameplay is shaping up to be quite something. The gunfights look even more intense than before. The controls are far improved from its earlier showing at E3, something we're glad to see the team is working on. Check out another video after the break.

"Terrain Deformation" is LucasArts' next-gen answer in Fracture

We haven't heard much from Fracture in a while, but we've always had it in the back of our minds as a game to keep our eye on. This new video talks about the main draw to the game, terrain deformation, where you can alter the landscape of the battlefield to your hearts content given a plethora of devices with varying effects. You can see some new footage (on the 360 build), some behind the scenes work, and more or less a big propaganda machine in action (even a military officer is singing praises about the concept).

Worked on us! We won't be seeing this game this year, but early next year we definitely expect to hear more and hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on something. Messing around with the very ground beneath your characters feet may prove to be just what the action-shooter genre needs to reinvent itself.

Japan loves Lair; Famitsu awards game high score

They say that Japanese and American gamers have different taste in games. Well, that certainly appears to be the case in Japan. Lair (or Rise from Lair, as it's called in Japan) has been getting a serious push by Sony's Japanese marketing team. They might have an easier job of selling the game in the territory, thanks to the fantastic critical reception of the game. Famitsu, Japan's leading gaming magazine awarded the game an impressive 34/40, which is far more generous than the current critical average of 55/100.

Will Lair be able to dominate the Japanese sales charts next week? With Halo 3 taking the top spot this week, it seems anything is possible.

Uncharted documentary showcases mo-cap'ed characters

Heavenly Sword isn't the only game from Sony to feature extensive motion capture. The upcoming Uncharted is all about believable characters in an unbelievable story, sort of like the classic "Indiana Jones" movies. This promotional video (which will be made available on the PS Store soon) highlights the extensive motion capture required for Uncharted's cinematics. Just like Heavenly Sword, the team at Naughty Dog wanted to get real actors to play the roles of these characters, and even had them ad-lib some of the lines, just to add the subtle nuances that only a real performance can bring.

Two Home videos detailing more customizations

As if you could get enough of Home footage, we've got even more for you. There are two videos -- we've cleverly disguised the other one to appear after the jump, but they go over more customization options for your avatar, the wallpaper feature, some video playback implementation in your Home apartment, and a small tour around the areas available (which we're familiar with by now).

What's there to be said that hasn't already about this stuff? We're interested to see the final build, but the limited options available to beta testers doesn't exactly give off the most accurate representation of what to expect. Still, we'll consume whatever footage of the beta we can get, since it's interesting to see how it's evolved from the very first trailer shown a long time ago. Check out the videos and leave your thoughts, but be warned, combined you'll be sitting through ten minutes of Home, so grab a soda or something.

Director: Kane and Lynch are bastards

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men director Jens Peter Kurup doesn't have many nice things to say about his nefarious duo. In fact, he doesn't really like them that much, but he says they're the type of characters who he wanted in the game.

Interestingly enough, Kurup says the title started out starring only Kane with Lynch as a sidekick, but he was so interesting that the pair quickly grew into the crime duo we're growing to love. With Kane & Lynch and Army of Two on the horizon, buddy games have quickly grown up since the time of Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter.

Does High Velocity Bowling steal more than just hype?

The PlayStation Network's upcoming downloadable title High Velocity Bowling certainly hasn't met critical acclaim so far. When Andrew played the game earlier this year, he felt the game's use of the Sixaxis controller was gimmicky and didn't successfully recreate the feel of actual bowling like that certain other bowling game.

Not only does this game attempt to get in on the hype Wii Sports has created, it also appears to have stolen the name of one of Nintendo's most disrespected and abused characters of all time. Watch the video and see if you can find who we're talking about.

LittleBigPlanet: creating cute creatures video

Is there anything more adorable than LittleBigPlanet? On the PS3, we don't think there is. This latest video shows off the room where you create your potato-sack-like persona, as well as the intuitive interface to customize the critter to almost no end. Though, we hope the final game has more than this one song which we've heard time and again. No matter, that's the least of our worries as everything else oozes adorable, which is slightly orange and smells faintly of chamomile. Enjoy the video and curse in anger as you realize this game is still quite a few months off.

Taking a look "inside" Uncharted: Part 1

Here's Sony's promo-documentary for the upcoming PS3 exclusive adventure, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Watch the team at Naughty Dog talk about straying from the usual grays of other action games, and go for its own style. Expect some heavy pro-PS3 propaganda ... but we don't think you'll mind!

Stay tuned to the historical connection, around minute 4. It's fascinating to see how Uncharted is very loosely based upon historical events. To see how, you'll just have to watch.

Watch Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first level

After watching the first level of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, it's hard not to be blown away by the sheer graphical beauty Naughty Dog has been able to capture. At times, it really feels like you're watching a movie as Nathan shoots, punches, climbs and jumps his way throughout the level.

Andrew noted the game has come a long way since its E3 showing, and we can certainly tell. The most exciting part is Naughty Dog still has nearly two months for some fine tuning before it's set to ship.

Get your scissors ready: the Eye of Judgment plastic pak

Click for high-res image.

This is merely a frivolous complaint -- but one we had to voice! The Eye of Judgment pack, which includes the Eye camera will come in those annoying plastic sealed packages. You know, the ones that require scissors to open? We've nearly lost a finger (or two) trying to open these, and it's sad to see that in order to get our hands on Sony's upcoming card game, we'll have to risk yet another appendage. Hopefully, it'll be worth it.

We kid (sort of). Regardless of packaging, we're excited for this innovative game. Go chew on these brand new screenshots in our updated gallery:
